I'm on Lopez collecting sounds. Here's some Tunisian AM Radio I caught on the University of Twente's online SDR. Second instrumental break from the tune I posted yesterday. I dunno - I was thinking it had a duple feel rather triplet feel, but maybe it's just slower. Here's the whole tune - maybe you can help me identify it? So much cool stuff going on throughout. The wonders of technology: I ran announcer's intro of the song through Whisper, OpenAI's speech reco api, then had chatgpt translate. Watching people who are holding onto their sheep, heading home to celebrate the holiday with their families—may they always be blessed, God willing. Every year, may it bring many good occasions and abundant provisions. Eid al-Adha is one of the big celebrations where the Tunisian family especially gathers—usually in the large, spacious family home. The residents feel joy and pride, watching their children playing in front of them, and seeing the elders offering advice. May God preserve them, have mercy on those who have passed, and grant long life to those still lighting up our lives and celebrating with us. We remember them even from afar—just a phone call is enough to let them know someone is thinking of them. Hopefully, we all take the time to reach out. Even if we turn on all the lights, each of us should connect with a member of the family, greet them in the name of the whole family, and say “Happy Eid, may you be well.” Welcome to all of you. I’m going to leave you now in the festive atmosphere, and let you enjoy Saber Rebai and Kaouftal (song or program). SO: I can credit what I heard to Saber Rebai. Not sure what Kaouftal. I only took one year of Arabic, to my regret now. Link to the post.
