Kansas Weather 3/7 Morning - Sunny Flood Dance

from The Kansas Weather Podcast

Good morning. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly. That damp chill you felt this morning? It’s history. A cold front swept through overnight to clear our skies. And now the Kansas sun is taking over. When March sunshine gets to work like this, it doesn’t mess around. You’ll feel the rebound fast. Northeast Kansas climbs to 54 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. Northwest winds at 6 to 12 miles an hour will keep it crisp early on—it’ll feel like 27 degrees despite the actual air temp of 36. But you’ll warm up quick. Down in South Central Kansas, you’re hitting 56 degrees with gusts up to 25 miles an hour out of the north-northwest. That’s enough to rattle the winter wheat. Tonight cools to 36, but don’t get cozy—tomorrow brings 67 and sunny. Western Kansas takes the prize today with 57 degrees. Tonight’s low drops to 33, but Sunday? You’re basking in 72. That’s right—72 degrees in early March. In Here’s surprise, this isn’t just a tease. Sunday and Monday launch us into serious warmth—highs pushing 80 in some spots. But Tuesday brings a reality check. A strong system moves in with thunderstorms—some potentially severe—followed by a sharp crash back to the 50s and rain Wednesday. We might even see snow showers mixing in up north. Keep a close eye on the Marais Des Cygnes River at La Cygne. A Flood Warning is in effect through Tuesday evening. If you’re near Linn County, remember: turn around, don’t drown. On the bright side, we’re gaining 2 minutes and 33 seconds of daylight today. Sunrise was at 6:43 A.M. and we’ll see the sunset at 6:18 P.M. The spring equinox is just 13 days away. Charge those batteries for Sunday's outdoor plans. See you tomorrow. See you this afternoon.
