Kentucky Weather 3/7 Evening - Splash & Sizzle Saturday

from The Kentucky Weather Podcast

Good evening. Kentucky. I'm Michael Nally. That muggy air you felt yesterday? It's getting swept away. A cold front is barreling through Kentucky right now, kicking off a weekend of dramatic shifts. We've already picked up two-thirds of an inch of rain. While the heaviest downpours are winding down, this front isn't quite done with us yet. The front's final stand happens tonight in Eastern Kentucky. Showers and thunderstorms rumble through midnight—some spots could see another half-inch of rain. Lows stick to a balmy 59 degrees. That's 35 degrees above normal for early March. By Sunday, scattered rain lingers until 3 P.M., with highs near 69. Then. Bam. Sunshine takes over. And Monday hits 76 degrees. Down in Central Kentucky, you've got a slight chance of thunderstorms before 1 A.M. Lows hover in the upper 40s. Sunday brings sunshine and 63 degrees. But the real headline is Monday's high of 73. That's a full-on summer preview. The warmth sticks around Tuesday at 74 degrees. But Wednesday brings a reality check: thunderstorms and a 30-degree temperature drop by Thursday. South Central Kentucky is the lucky zone tonight. Just a slight chance of thunderstorms after 10 P.M., with lows near 49. Sunday looks mostly sunny and 66 degrees. Then Monday hits 76. But like the rest of the state. Wednesday's front means a crash back to the 50s by Thursday. North Central Kentucky sees a quieter night. Just a slight chance of rain showers before midnight, with lows around 44. Sunday's sunshine pushes you to 63. Then Monday leaps to 74. But again. Wednesday's front brings storms and a return to the 50s. The Ohio River at Mount Vernon is under a Flood Warning through next Saturday. If you're near the river, stay updated—turn around, don't drown. In We're in that classic early march tug-of-war, winter's last gasp versus spring's first surge. The spring equinox is just 13 days away. We're gaining 2 minutes and 29 seconds of daylight every day now. But as today proves. Kentucky weather doesn't do subtle. It does dramatic. So enjoy the warmth while it lasts. Because by Wednesday, you'll be digging out the jackets again. See you tomorrow.
