Kentucky Weather 3/9 Morning - 35° Above Normal
from The Kentucky Weather Podcast
Good morning. Kentucky. I'm Michael Mosby. Step outside right now and you'll feel 42 degrees — mild, almost sleepy. But don't get too comfortable. We're about to ride a temperature roller coaster that'll make your head spin. Today's the warm-up act. Patchy fog this morning — thick in spots, down to a quarter mile visibility — burns off by mid-morning. Then sunshine takes over. Highs climb into the mid 70s statewide. South winds gust to 24 miles an hour this afternoon. Spring equinox is 11 days out, but today feels like it's already here. Tonight stays mild — upper 50s to low 60s, warmer than this morning. Clouds roll back in after sunset. A few thunderstorms could pop up after midnight, especially across western and south-central Kentucky. Tuesday cranks the heat even higher. Highs push into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees — about 35 degrees above normal for early March. Scattered showers and storms move through, mainly morning hours. Light rain, nothing heavy yet. The rest of the week settles down. Dry weather returns Friday through Saturday with highs recovering into the 60s. Sunday brings another round of showers as temperatures climb back to 70 degrees. Layer up for Wednesday — you'll thank me when that front hits. See you this afternoon.
