Kentucky Weather March 3 Evening - Flood Watch

from The Kentucky Weather Podcast

Good evening. Kentucky. I'm Aaron Jolly. That light rain you heard overnight? Just the opening act. We picked up about a tenth of an inch. And now a warm front is parked along the Ohio River. Acting like a conveyor belt for moisture and mild air. In the next 24 hours. Here's the breakdown. North Central Kentucky sees the heaviest action. Rain likely between 9 P.M. and 4 A.M., then thunderstorms Wednesday morning. That's a a chance tonight, climbing to near by tomorrow morning. You hit 70 degrees tomorrow. Central Kentucky follows a similar script. Showers after 9 P.M. Tonight. Thunderstorms likely before noon Wednesday. High near 69 degrees. South Central Kentucky stays warmer and slightly drier. Lows around 59 degrees tonight. Highs push 77 degrees Wednesday. Just a chance of showers, nothing widespread. Eastern Kentucky sees showers after 2 A.M. Highs climb to 74 degrees Wednesday. The mountains stay on the quieter side. A quick heads-up for our northeastern counties — Boyd. Carter. Greenup. Lawrence — a Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon. Repeated heavy rain could cause localized flooding. Looking ahead, temperatures soar. Friday and Saturday could hit 80 degrees — that's threatening record territory for early March. But Saturday also brings our next round of strong storms as a cold front plows through. Tonight's full moon rises at sunset. If clouds break, it'll be worth a look. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
