Kids Money Academy with Dee
from The Planning Parent · host Crista Hermance
Our guest Dee is a CPA and finance instructor at UCLA. When she had her own kids, she found that there were no good comprehensive resources for teaching kids financial literacy. She founded Kids Money Academy to fill this need.Dee recommends using a 3-jar (or envelope) system where kids divide their money into different funds to Save, Spend, and Give. Depending on what works best for your family, kids may earn their allowance through chores. Some families give allowance without tying them to chores, but there’s also a hybrid method where chores can earn a bonus. From there, kids may be allowed to split up their allowance as they see fit.The idea with the “Give” jar is to let them pick the cause they want to support, and how much they want to give. The goal is to teach them to be charitable, generous and kind to others.Connect with Dee and Kids Money Academy: @kidsmoneyacademy | LinktreeIf you're a parent and you're looking for some new ideas and strategies, join our community on Facebook @theplanningparent.Free printables are available at theplanningparent.com and you can follow us on Instagram.Remember - take a deep breath.
