Kids Say the Funniest Things

from FRCP Sunday Morning Sermons

In Matthew 21:1-17, Jesus enters Jerusalem and we call it Palm Sunday, because the crowds were cheering him on and waving Palm Branches. He came as a humble King of Peace, riding on a donkey and its colt. But Kings have responsibilities and Jesus took his responsibility to clean the center of worship seriously, so he flips tables and runs out the greedy profiteers from the Temple Courts. And the kids love it! And they run through the streets shouting “Hosanna, Son of David!” Kids say the funniest things. Did they know they were calling on YHWH to save them, to save their people, to save their religion? Did they know that Jesus would indeed be that King, YHWH in the flesh, sent to save? And are we ready for Jesus to be our King, and clean out whatever he sees fit to restore us to our one true love?
