Kole Basava | ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವ

ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು ಮತ್ತು ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೊಂಗಲ್ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಮಕರ ಸಂಕ್ರಾಂತಿಯ ನಾಲ್ಕು ದಿನಗಳ ಚಳಿಗಾಲದ ಹಬ್ಬವು ಮಾಟ್ಟು ಪೊಂಗಲ್ ಆಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ, ಸಂಪತ್ತು, ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ಫಲವತ್ತತೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವ ಸಮುದಾಯದವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳನ್ನು ಕುಟುಂಬವೆಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಮರದ ಗಾಳಿ ವಾದ್ಯವಾದ ನಾದಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ನುಡಿಸುವಾಗ ಈ ಸಂಚಾರಿ ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರರು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ನಗರದ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.ಈ ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರರನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುವ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಜೀವನಶೈಲಿಯು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಲಾಭದಾಯಕವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ, ಅನೇಕರು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಂತಹ ನಗರಗಳಿಗೆ ವಲಸೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸಂಗೀತವು ಕಿವುಡ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬೀಳುತ್ತದೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಕಲೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಗಳಿಸಲು ಹೆಣಗಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನ ವಿಧಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯವಾದ ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಪರ್ಯಾಯ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನು ಅನ್ವೇಷಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಾಲವು ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವ ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರರನ್ನು ಭಿಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ತಳ್ಳಿದೆಯಾದರೂ, ಅವರು ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಹಣ, ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆಹಾರದ ಉಡುಗೊರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು. ಭಕ್ತ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾಸಿಗಳು ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಸವ ವೃಷಭಗಳಿಂದ ಸಲಹೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರು, ಅವರ ತಲೆ-ನೋವುಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ತರಗಳಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿದರು. ಜನಪದ ನಾಟಕಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಚಮತ್ಕಾರಿಕ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯವು ಮರೆಯಾಯಿತು.ಇಂದು ಉಳಿದಿರುವ ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಅವರ ಘನತೆಗೆ ಕುಂದುಂಟಾಗಿದೆ, ಅನೇಕರನ್ನು ಭಿಕ್ಷುಕರನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿದೆ. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದ, ಅವರ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಎತ್ತುಗಳು ಈಗ ಹಸಿವಿನಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿವೆ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವುಗಳ ಮಾಲೀಕರು ಹುಲ್ಲು ಮತ್ತು ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಹೆಣಗಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವಾಹನದ ನಿಷ್ಕಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಶಬ್ದದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ನಗರದ ಬೀದಿಗಳು ಅವರಿಗೆ ನಿರಾಶ್ರಿತವಾಗಿವೆ.ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳು ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಎಂದು ಊಹೆಯ ಹೊರತಾಗಿಯೂ, ಕೆಲವು ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳು, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕೊರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳಿಂದ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಶಾಪಗಳಾಗಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಗರೀಕರಣವು ಅವರ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯು ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ, ಇದು ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದ ಅವನತಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವವನ್ನು ನಿಶ್ಚಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರು ಸಂಗಮದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಇದು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಅಲ್ಲದ ಲೈಂಗಿಕ ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತರನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುವ NGO. ಈ ಸಂಚಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಸಮೀಪದ ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವ ಬಡಾವಣೆಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ದಿನನಿತ್ಯದ ಸವಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಕೋಲೆ ಬಸವ ತಮ್ಮ ಕೆಲಸದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಮತ್ತು ಘನತೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಹೆಣಗಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.The Kole Basava community, native to Andhra Pradesh, considers their cattle as family. These itinerant musicians are often seen on city streets seeking alms as they lead their decorated bulls and cows while playing the nadaswaram, a traditional woodwind instrument. The traditional lifestyle sustaining these musicians is no longer lucrative, leading many to migrate to cities like Bengaluru, where their music falls on deaf ears. Struggling to earn through their art, they explore alternative opportunities while holding onto their cherished cattle, which are integral to their way of life.Though changing times have pushed Kole Basava musicians to poverty, they recall a time when they were respected, receiving gifts of money, clothes, and food. Devout townsfolk sought counsel from sacred Basava bulls, interpreting their head-nods as answers. The tradition of folklore plays and acrobatics with the animals has faded.Today, as the remaining Kole Basava strive to preserve their tradition, their dignity has eroded, reducing many of them to begging. Once well-fed, their sacred bulls now suffer starvation as their owners struggle to afford hay and cattle feed.
