President Joe Biden addressed the newly constituted 118th Congress and the nation from the Capitol in Washington, D.C., on the evening of February 7, 2023. Norm and Mike discuss their own answers to the question, "What is the state of our union?" in parallel with a review and analysis of President Biden's speech.  By our their own admissions, Norm and Mike believe in their own ways that the United States of America is in the midst of one of the most historically salient periods of American cultural fracture and decline in pluralism. Norm gives his critique of the speech itself as a pathway into a broader discussion of what Mike considers an obvious void in American optimism and societal self-esteem.  What do you think?
