They then trained as a dancer at The Alvin Ailey Dance School. And later in Chicago they combined their love of classical works with physical theatre beginning their career as a director. Since then Lamar has worked at The Steppenwolf Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Seattle Opera, Seattle Repertory Theater, The Intiman, Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan and many others. As a playwright they’ve written and adapted original and classical works for companies in New York, Chicago, Seattle, and LA, as well as abroad in Italy, Prague, and Mexico. And as a screenwriter Lamar's pilot scripts have won up to fifteen finalist awards in competitive competitions, featured on The Black List's Top Recommended Scripts and ranked in the Top 1% on Coverfly's Red List.  They’ve been honored with The Rising Star Award by The Broadway League in New York and a Seattle Gregory Award.Upcoming theater projects for Lamar you heard about while listening include Directing both Fellow Passengers for Strawberry Theatre Workshop and It's a Wonderful Life for Theater Anonymous in the fall.  Lamar is also in the process of editing and self-publishing their YA fantasy novel, THE MIDNIGHT HEIR.
