Large crowds attend Letterkenny Vigil as community prays for the Gallagher Brothers

Up to 200 people gathered for a candlelit vigil last night in Letterkenny for two brothers who were struck by a car in the early hours of yesterday morning. Anthony Gallagher died and his brother Martin is in a serious condition in hospital following the incident which happened at Lower Main Street just before 3am yesterday. A section of the road was closed for a time but reopened yesterday evening. The local St. Patrick’s Day Parade was also cancelled as a mark of respect. A young man suspected of driving the vehicle involved was arrested and remains in custody at Letterkenny Garda Station. Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward. Cathaoirlech of the Letterkenny Milford MD Cllr Gerry McMonagle has been paying tribute to the late Mr. Gallagher:
