Law & Grace

The Bible is fundamentally divided by two covenants that represent different ways of relating to God. The Old Covenant was based on human promises to keep God's law, which consistently failed due to humanity's inability to perfectly obey. The New Covenant operates on God's promises to Himself, with Jesus serving as both God's and humanity's representative at the cross. This covenant is built on grace rather than human performance, where God does the work of transformation. Understanding this distinction prevents the dangerous mixing of law and grace that robs believers of joy and peace.
