Lawsuit filed against U.S. farmer for hiring white South Africans instead of locals

from Good Morning Cape Town with Lester Kiewit · host CapeTalk

Five black American farmworkers from Mississippi have filed a lawsuit against farmer Gregory Carr, alleging that he has misused the federal government’s H-2A visa program, which allows U.S. farmers to hire foreign workers only when no U.S. workers are available to do the job. They allege that Carr has hired white South Africans and paying them a higher wage than what they were paid. The Lawsuit was filed on their behalf by Southern Migrant Legal Services (SMLS) and the Mississippi Center for Justice (MCJ). Lester Kiewit speaks to Rob McDuff, Director of Impact Litigation at the Mississippi Center for Justice, to find out more details from the case.   Good Morning Cape Town with Lester Kiewit is a podcast of the CapeTalk breakfast show.  This programme is your authentic Cape Town wake-up call.
