Leadership Now for A Better “Normal”

from Good Idea webinars · host Iowa Annual Conference UMC

Leadership Now for A Better “Normal” – Plato in The Republic wrote “A need or problem encourages creative efforts to meet the need or solve the problem.” Today we might say “necessity is the mother of invention.” Our churches have done amazing things since the start of the Covid-19 situation in ways none of us dreamed possible until we had no choice. How many times have you thought or said “when things get back to normal…” Perhaps now is the time to ask some critical leadership questions: What should never get back to normal? What have we learned that we need to continue moving forward? How will we be different, in a good way, moving forward and what do we do now to make sure those changes take root? Our guest is Rev. Dr. Lanette Plambeck, Director of Clergy and Leadership Excellence for the Iowa Annual Conference. Lanette has a passion for helping people to recognize their leadership style and skill set and develop in areas that will make them the very best version of themselves as a leader. Rev. Dr. Jaye Johnson, Director of Congregational Excellence for the Iowa Annual Conference, is the host.

Tao Te Ching by Laozi (Author), Stephen Mitchell (Full Audiobook) Laozi Lao-tzu's Tao Te Ching, or Book of the Way, is the classic manual on the art of living, and one of the wonders of the world. In eighty-one brief chapters, the Tao Te Ching looks at the basic predicament of being alive and gives advice that imparts balance and perspective, a serene and generous spirit. This book is about wisdom in action. It teaches how to work for the good with the effortless skill that comes from being in accord with the Tao (the basic principle of the universe) and applies equally to good government and sexual love; to child rearing, business, and ecology.Stephen Mitchell's bestselling version has been widely acclaimed as a gift to contemporary culture. NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next. So tune in Changemakers Mastercard Welcome to Changemakers, a Mastercard storylab series about employees who have become a force for good in local communities. Join hosts Anthony Venutolo and Vicki Hyman in discovering who they are and how they are making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
