Level of abuse at Rathcormac roadworks 'off the charts'

The level of verbal and racial abuse that staff at the Rathcormac roadworks have been subjected to has been described as 'off the charts'. The resurfacing works are set to finish tomorrow (Friday) but had resulted in huge tailbacks when they initially started, causing frustration among road users. It's been claimed that some have been venting their rage over the delays to the staff on the roadside with motorists said to be making racial slurs to one of the workers who has been trying to direct traffic. From Rathcormac, Contractor Brian Golden has been speaking to Ocean FM news - he says that he's never witnessed anything like it. He says his workers have now been directed to record number plates and that those details will be passed onto the Gardai:
