Life By Design Not Default: Thriving After Cancer – Zoraida Morales

from Connected Leaders Academy

Connected Leaders Academy I never thought that healing mentally, physically, and spiritually after a cancer diagnosis would lead me to leave the finance industry and become a nutrition and cancer coach—but it did. In this talk, Life By Design Not Default: Thriving After Cancer, I share how a life-altering diagnosis became the catalyst for deep transformation. At first, I was just trying to survive. But over time, I began asking bigger questions: How do I want to live? What am I truly hungry for? Those questions led me on a powerful journey through the three pillars of healing—mental, physical, and spiritual. I’ll share what each pillar looks like in real life, how trauma and limiting beliefs can keep us stuck, and how we can begin to move from survivor mode into a life of purpose, connection, and joy. This isn’t just a talk about cancer—it’s about reclaiming your power, rewriting your story, and designing a life that feels aligned, intentional, and fulfilling. Whether you're a survivor, caregiver, or someone navigating life after a major disruption, you’ll walk away with practical tools, hope, and a reminder that healing is possible—and it doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s journey but your own. Zoraida Morales is a Certified Transformational Nutrition Cancer Coach, speaker, author, and cancer thriver dedicated to helping others heal beyond the diagnosis. After 13 years of chemotherapy for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia and now over 46 months in remission, she left a successful career in finance to follow her purpose. Zoraida empowers survivors and caregivers through her signature Three Pillars of Nutrition: Mental, Physical, and Spiritual framework—guiding them to manage anxiety, nourish their bodies, and shift from surviving to thriving. She’s been featured in Perspectives on Cancer Volume II and shares her story through conferences, podcasts, and community events. Zoraida also holds a Professional Certificate in Project Management from Rutgers School of Business and blends heart with strategy in all she does. A joyful mother of two, she finds peace in yoga, astrology, and salsa dancing—and lives by her mantra: Life By Design Not Default®.
