Every year renewal. * State higher education agency has programs depending on need * Cost containment scholarship (on previous podcast HERE)      Opportunity * The student has an opportunity to qualify * Federal work-study programs * Internships that colleges offer * Research for grad schools * Employer assistance program - if you are an employee you can have college paid for * Banks, large stores, restaurants, grocery stores      Private * 5% of total scholarship money * Fastweb.com is a place to start, scholarships.com, princetonreview.com, scholarship monkey, scholarshiptoolkit.com * Set up a separate email for scholarship opportunities * Employer have private scholarships      Institutional * The big money at the college - colleges give the most money * Funding is determined by test scores * Additional CSS - Financial aid profile - private schools require this. Whatever scholarships you receive you must have the minimum score that is required. Scores for entrance is a level playing field. High schools score kids differently. That is the only way these scholarships can make the determination. It is important for students to keep their GPA up as well. Test prep should be part of your daily school. Critical thinking and logic is an important to discern.
