August 15 , 2021 Scripture Reading: Psalm 100:1-5 (ESV) – Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! 5 For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. 1. Your LOVE is REAL when you hate EVIL. Romans 12:9 (ESV) – Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Abhor – 1 Thessalonians 5:22 (NLT2) – Stay away from every kind of evil. 1 Peter 3:11 (NLT2) – Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. 2. Your LOVE is REAL when you COMMIT to ALWAYS doing what is GOOD. Romans 12:9 (ESV) – Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Hold fast – Luke 6:35-36 (ESV) – But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. 36 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. 3. Your LOVE is REAL when you love in a PRACTICAL way. Romans 12:9-10 (ESV) – Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Love one another – 2 Peter 1:5-8 (ESV) – For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 3:14 (ESV) – We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. 4. Your LOVE is REAL when your love INITIATES showing HONOR to OTHERS. Romans 12:9-10 (ESV) – Let love be genuine.
