November 28, 2021 Scripture Reading: Romans 12:18-21 (NLT2) – Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. 19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD. 1. You must always LIVE in a way to make sure EVIL doesn’t RULE over your life. Romans 12:21 (ESV) – Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 (NLT2) – Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Evil – kakos; Proverbs 23:7a (NKJV) – For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Genesis 4:1-7 (ESV) – Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten a man with the help of the LORD.” 2 And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground. 3 In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground, 4 and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, 5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. 6 The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” A. Evil can overcome you WITHIN B. Evil can overcome you WITHOUT 2. You must recognize that the only way you can OVERCOME evil is by doing GOOD. Romans 12:21 (ESV) – Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21b (NLT2) – Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Good – Agathos; A. Be good in your CHARACTER. B. Be good in your CONDUCT. Ephesians 4:26-27 (ESV) – Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil. 1 Thessalonians 5:15 (ESV) – See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.
