Louisiana Weather: 02-20-2026

from The Louisiana Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Louisiana Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 21st. Folks, Louisiana is running two completely different seasons right now. The south woke up thinking it's May. The north still knows it's February. Here's the deal. Down in Southeast Louisiana, you're hitting 80 degrees today. Eighty. In February. Light south wind around 10 miles an hour, mostly sunny skies. Tonight drops to the mid 60s with just a whisper of a shower possible. Tomorrow? Same story. Another 80 degree day. If you're heading to the French Quarter this weekend, sunscreen beats the jacket. Over in Baton Rouge, it's even warmer. The Capital Region pushes 82 degrees under clear skies. Tonight barely dips into the upper 60s. Saturday brings more of that low 80s warmth. Perfect crawfish boil weather if you ask me. Now drive north on I-49 and watch the thermometer slide. Northwest Louisiana tops out near 65 today. Still above normal for late February, but 17 degrees cooler than Baton Rouge. A light east breeze keeps things moving. Lows tonight settle into the mid 50s with a slight chance of a shower. Tomorrow nudges closer to 70, but the south keeps its warm weather crown. Here's what's coming your way this week. The south stays locked in on warm and dry through the weekend. The north runs a touch cooler with a small chance of showers. Early next week, a weak front drifts through bringing a few extra clouds statewide. Maybe a stray shower. Nothing dramatic. Temperatures hold mild, with highs in the 70s to near 80 for most of Louisiana. Quick note on air quality. It's moderate today, so if you're sensitive, take it easy outdoors. And here's the thing. We're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight every day now. Sunset at 5:18 this evening. That extra evening light feels earned. One more thing. If this forecast made your morning a little easier, share it with a friend. Word of mouth keeps us going. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there!
