Louisiana Weather: 02-21-2026

from The Louisiana Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Louisiana Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, here's the deal. Louisiana is running two completely different seasons today. Southeast Louisiana woke up feeling like early April. Northwest Louisiana? Still stuck in February's grip. Down in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, you're looking at 69 degrees this afternoon. Light southwest breeze. Skies mostly clear. It's the kind of Saturday where you leave the jacket in the car and regret nothing. Tonight, temperatures ease into the mid 50s. Calm and comfortable. Perfect for a late dinner on the patio. Now drive up to Shreveport and the thermometer tells a different story. Highs only hit 50 degrees today. A light northeast wind keeps things cool enough that you'll want a layer. Skies stay clear, though. Tonight, lows drop into the upper 30s. That's nearly 20 degrees colder than the southeast. Same state, two different wardrobes. Here's what's coming your way this week. The southeast and Capital Region hold onto that warmth through Monday. Highs stay in the upper 60s. Northwest Louisiana plays catch up, climbing back to the mid 50s by Tuesday. A weak front slides through midweek bringing a few clouds, but no rain worth worrying about. By Thursday, the entire state settles into the 60s together. Spring finally wins statewide. Sunrise today at 6:32 A.M. Sunset at 5:20 P.M. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every day now. Air quality sits at moderate, so if you're sensitive, maybe keep that jog short. One more thing. If you're enjoying these morning updates, share us with a friend. Word of mouth keeps this thing going. Bundle up if you're in the northwest. Throw on sunglasses if you're down south. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
