Louisiana Weather March 5 Morning - 49° Above Normal

from The Louisiana Weather Podcast

Good morning. Louisiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. That overnight rain dropped eight-tenths of an inch and left us with a gift. Dense fog hugging the coast. A Dense Fog Advisory runs until 10 A.M. For Lower Terrebonne. Lower Lafourche. Coastal Jefferson. And Lower Plaquemines. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile. If you're driving, take it slow and use those low beams. In the next 24 hours. Here's the big story today. We're running hot. 49 degrees to 49 degrees above normal for early March. Near-record territory, folks. Down in Southeast Louisiana, that morning fog burns off to partly sunny skies. You'll hit 80 degrees this afternoon. A slight chance of a shower pops up between 3 and 5 P.M., but most of you stay dry. Tonight, patchy fog rolls back in after 3 A.M. With a low of 68. Up in the Capital Region, same deal. Patchy fog clears by mid-morning, then partly sunny and 84 degrees. That's exceptionally warm. Showers are possible between 2 and 5 P.M. Tonight drops to 67 with more fog developing late. Over in Northwest Louisiana, no rain today. Just partly sunny skies and 84 degrees. South winds pick up to 15 miles an hour with higher gusts. Tonight stays dry at 67. Friday keeps the warmth going. Low to mid-80s again. But rain chances climb. Showers and thunderstorms become more widespread Friday night into Saturday. Sunday looks particularly wet across the state. Then the pattern flips. A cold front sweeps through Wednesday, dropping temperatures significantly. Enjoy this early taste of spring while it lasts. Cooler air is waiting in the wings. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
