Hebrews 12:6 – "For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives." II. Correcting with Grace Colossians 4:6 – "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each one." Ephesians 4:29 – "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification." III. Correcting with Love 1 Corinthians 16:14 – "Let all that you do be done in love." Galatians 6:1 – "Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently." IV. Avoiding Harshness in Correction Ephesians 4:31-32 – "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away... Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another." Proverbs 15:1 – "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." V. Seeking Restoration, Not Condemnation** 2 Corinthians 2:7-8 – "Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow." Matthew 18:15 – "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens, you have gained your brother." VI. Final Encouragement in Love** James 5:19-20– "My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back... you will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8 – "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."
