She is the 20th Poet Laureate for the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 2015, she was the inaugural winner of the Resurgence Prize (UK), the world’s first major award for ecopoetry. Her latest collection of poems, Maps for Migrants and Ghosts, was published by Southern Illinois University Press in 2020.
