In this episode, we explore the striking parallels between the inaugural sermons of Jesus in Luke 4 and Peter in Acts 2. Both messages begin with the power of the Holy Spirit, both respond to resistance and misunderstanding, and both reveal God’s desire to reach beyond familiar boundaries with the gospel. Through these connected passages, we see how Luke intentionally presents Peter continuing the Spirit-empowered mission of Jesus. This lesson examines how Jesus announced good news to the poor and freedom to the oppressed, while Peter proclaimed the outpouring of the Spirit on “all people.” Along the way, we consider what it means to be filled with the Spirit, how Scripture shapes believers to respond wisely in difficult moments, and why the Holy Spirit consistently pushes the church beyond social, cultural, and geographical borders. More than a comparison study, this conversation becomes a challenge for modern discipleship. If the same Spirit that empowered Jesus and Peter lives in believers today, then the question becomes personal: what borders is God calling us to cross with the gospel?
