1 Holy Spirit, come, we pray, Shed from heaven Thine inward ray, Kindle darkness into day. 2 Come, Thou Father of the poor; Come, Thou source of all our store, Light of hearts for evermore. 3 Light most blissful, fire divine, Fill, O fill these hearts of Thine, On our inmost being shine. 4 If in Thee it be not wrought, All in men is simply naught, Nothing pure in deed or thought. 5 To Thy will the stubborn mould, Melt the frozen heart and cold, Guide the wanderer to the fold. 6 On the faithful who confide Solely in Thyself as guide, Let Thy sevenfold gifts abide. 7 Grant them virtue’s full increase, Grant them safe and sweet release, Grant them everlasting peace.
