Lutheran Hymnal: 130 - O Enter, Lord, Thy temple

from The Order of Knight George · host COELC Media Ministry

1 O enter, Lord, Thy temple, Be Thou my spirit’s guest, Who gavest me, the earth-born, A second birth more blest. Thou in the Godhead, Lord, Though here to dwell Thou deignest, For ever equal reignest, Art equally adored. 2 O come, and let me know Thee, And feel Thy power within, The power that breaks our fetters And rescues us from sin; So wash and cleanse Thou me That I may serve Thee truly, And render honour duly With perfect heart to Thee. 3 ’Tis Thou, O Spirit, teachest The soul to pray aright; Thy songs have sweetest music, Thy prayers have wondrous might; Unheard they cannot fall, They pierce the highest heaven, Till He His help hath given Who surely helpeth all. 4 The whole wide world, O Spirit, Within Thy power doth rest, And hearts of men Thou turnest As Thou dost deem it best. In every time and place Let days of peace delight us, In bonds of love unite us; O grant to us Thy grace. 5 Defend, O Lord, our rulers, The reign or right uphold; Adorn in gracious favour, With wisdom all the old, With piety our youth, With godliness our nation, That each in his own station May walk in ways of truth. 6 Our path in all things order According to Thy mind; And when this life is over And all must be resigned, O grant us then to die With calm and fearless spirit, And after death inherit Eternal life on high.
