Description: Österreichischer HipHop ist weitgehend ein Nischenphänomen. Ganz anders die Lage in Deutschland: Dort ist deutschsprachiger HipHop fest in der Musikwelt etabliert und auch im Mainstream angekommen. Österreichische Künstler*innen wie etwa RAF Camora nutzen oft den deutschen Markt, um kommerziell erfolgreich zu werden. Aber warum ist das so? Wie begann die Geschichte des HipHop in Österreich? Und wie ist HipHop aus musikwissenschaftlicher Sicht überhaupt aufgebaut? Frederik Dörfler-Trummer war Stipendiat der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAW) und hat ein Buch zu HipHop in Österreich geschrieben. Im Podcast erzählt er, wer die ersten Musiker*innen waren, die HipHop in Österreich aufgriffen, wie aktuelle Künstler*innen nicht nur in ihren Texten, sondern auch mithilfe der Musik auf ihre eigene lokale Herkunft eingehen und warum HipHop nicht nur Musik umfasst, sondern auch Kunst, Sprache, Mode und Kultur.
