Christian Death, avec 45 Grave et (pendant une brève période) TSOL, a fait partie d'une vague appelée "death rock" à la fin des années 70 et au début des années 80. Pour simplifier, on va les classer dans le rock gothique, avec leurs compadres cités plus haut, et aussi Samhain, le groupe post Misfits (et avant Danzig) de mister Glen Danzig. Comme vous l'aurez compris, on continue à explorer le post punk, la cold wave, le goth rock un peu partout ( on ne se limite point à la Grande Bretagne).
