शाळेत असल्यापासून अख्खा गोरेगाव फिरून दूध देणं आणि त्यानंतर घरोघरी पेपर टाकणं. दिवसाला कमीत कमी ४०-४५ बिल्डिंगमध्ये किमान दोन वेळा चढ उतार करता करता आपोआप शरीर तयार होत गेलं. जगण्यासाठी धावताना तो एक जीवनाचा भाग बनून गेला. २००४ साली पहिल्या वाहिल्या टाटा मॅरेथॉनमध्ये २१ एवजी चुकून ४२ किलोमीटरमध्ये नाव आल्यानंतर महेश साळवींच्या आयुष्याला कलाटणी मिळाली. गेल्या २० वर्षांत एकदाही मॅरेथॉन चुकलेली नाही. त्याचबरोबर मिलिंद सोमण यांच्याबरोबर देशभरात अनेक मॅरेथॉनमध्ये भाग घेतला आहे. लिम्का बूक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रेकॉर्डनेही त्यांच्या दिल्ली मुंबई हा १५०० किमीचा टप्पा पूर्ण केला २८ दिवसांत. हे सगळं त्यांनी आपली केसरी टूर्समधील नोकरी सांभाळून केलं आहे हे विशेष. हा जबरदस्त प्रवास त्यांनी स्पोर्ट्स कट्टाच्या आदित्य जोशींशी गप्पांमध्ये सांगितला आहे.   The inspiring journey of Mahesh Salvi is truly impactful and motivational. From his early days, delivering milk and newspapers while walking around Goregaon, he built strength and endurance naturally. Climbing up and down at least 40-45 buildings every day gradually became a part of his life. Running for survival became a part of his lifestyle. In 2004, when he accidentally registered for the full 42 km instead of the 21 km in the first Tata Marathon, it marked a turning point in his life. Since then, he hasn't missed a single marathon in the past 20 years. Along with that, he participated in numerous marathons across the country alongside Milind Soman. His 1500 km stretch from Delhi to Mumbai was completed in 28 days, which was recognized by the Limca Book of World Records. What's particularly remarkable is that he managed all this while continuing his job at Kesari Tours.  This entire journey was shared by Mahesh Salvi in a conversation with Aditya Joshi from Sports Katta.
