It’s not often that a young man with strong ties to downtown Manteca gets moved to the Austin Rd countryside. But, today on the show my guest tells me that, he could hear the Friday night lights at Guss Schmiedt Field every Friday from his family home on Sheridan St. The noise, the sights, the grandeur of small-town Friday night high school gridiron action.  Enough to evoke all kinds of thoughts from a young 12-year-old boy and that's why he was shocked to be displaced when his family moved to the country and that meant a change from Lincoln elementary to New Haven school and then to high school, East Union high school. The red and blue stronghold on Union road, this student, whose family has MHS Buffalo roots in sports history at MHS is now a Lancer.  A big 6 foot 4-inch lancer who continued serving EU long after his time there. 29 years in fact and 31 years total and coaching. He is cherished to all, and is a memory to any Lancer in the past three decades. That is why this coach and teacher athlete standout is featured this week because he is a Manteca heavy-hitter. And if you don’t know him. I question your Manteca hood.  It's my honor to have this guy on the show, he’s earned the right in this town to be inducted into our great Manteca Hall Of Fame as I believe it is guys like him who are a perfect example of what you would want your child to aspire to be. This week on the show East Union legend Rick Inderbitzin.. Show NOTE apologies early he picked the song.

Henry by O. Henry (1862 - 1910) LibriVox O. Henry wrote over 600 short stories. Naturally I have my personal top 20 stories that just seem to stand out because of their form, writing style and ability to convey real personalities in a very few words. From these 20 I've chosen five that seem outstanding examples of the short story art form. Stories like The Gift of the Magi; The Cop and the Anthem; Man about Town; A Cosmopolite in a Cafe and Mammon and the Archer. So this is a collection of just five O.Henry stories that many people, including me, have loved and remembered over the years. And this time, thanks to LibriVox, I have the enormous pleasure of not just reading them to myself, but also the joy of reading them aloud! What fun, eh?
