Managing Through Change with Jennifer Tsang, PCC

from In The Lead: Leadership for Everyday People · host Jennifer Tsang

Change: Change is uncomfortable for most people. We've all been through it. At work, in our personal lives. It's a constant. We can experience a range of emotions from grief to excitement & anywhere in between. It can vary for most, but it's important to understand how to manage change effectively, especially if you're in a leadership position. It is your job to help define the 'Why' for your team and help them move through the change process, leaving them whole, resourceful and capable. We all need the time and the space to grieve change, and frankly, I don't think we do this well enough within organizations. We tend to look at change like a gender reveal party, where we develop creative ways to surprise people with the news when in reality, we need to be doing the oposite. We need to help people understand the change, give them time to process it and then help support them move through it. Change is not something that we just dump on people (or managers) & expect them to just be "flexible."
