Marialicia Gonzalez: Grief as love compass

from Coffee, Grief, And Gratitude · host Coffee And Grief

On Episode 15 we’re delighted to be in conversation with Marialicia Gonzalez who’s experienced grief through the death of her mom, leaving a cult, and other deaths in her young adult years. Plus near the end, there’s tender, open conversation about grief around her name—a grief we learned more about.  The daughter of Cuban refugees, Marialicia González was raised in Miami and started writing as a child; she wrote her first haiku at age nine. Poetry has always been a way to witness herself. In the last decade she has performed her poetry and creative non-fiction on stages for the Grief Rites Foundation (of which she is co-founder), at Literary Arts, for Voice Catcher, and was co-host of the Attic Institute’s Fridays on the Boulevard, a popular Portland- based open mic series, for several years. She is the author of the newly released  best-selling haiku poetry collection, Language Has No Words. Marialicia is a grief revolutionary, midwife, and mother.  Find out more about Marialicia here: IG: @marigonzalezwriter - website: http://www.daraluzwisdom.com/integrating-grief-frequency-for-healy - email: [email protected]; Marialicia does grief listening and support sessions for people in person or via zoom. - Her book on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Language-Has-Words-Marialicia-Gonz%C3%A1lez/dp/B0BD9WGFVX Thank you for letting us be in your ears.  Grief and Gratitude is a created by Anne Gudger and Maria Gibson, a mom/daughter duo who talk about grief.  You can find them on Facebook at Coffee and Grief.
