Matthew 20: Not Jesus's to Give

Matthew 20:17-23

James and John bring their mother to Jesus to beg that they get to be the greatest in the kingdom. But before Andrew and Edwin dig into more discussion of humility and arrogance, of first and last, they register their surprise at Jesus's admission. He doesn't have authority to determine who will sit at His right and left hand. What is that about?
