We are joined by Republican analyst Austin Barbour and Former Democrat House member Brandon Jones to break down some of the major points of the governor's address; including education, health care, corrections and more. Segment 2:The state Democrats issued a response the the State of the State Monday evening. Delivering the response was House Member Robert Johnson, III. He called for ensuring inclusion when promoting the theme "FOR ALL MISSISSIPPI". Democrat House member Alyce Clark hopes the governor lives up to the promises outlined in his address, and commends him for taking action regarding Parchman Unit 29.Republican Briggs Hopson is chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. He says he was pleased to hear the governor address education and the prison system. He also indicates the department of corrections my need additional funding.Segment 3:Keewin Grayer spent twenty four years in Mississippi prisons, including time at Parchman. A reformed gang member, he now spends his time helping others avoid his fate. In a conversation with MPB's Desare Frazier, Grayer describes the conditions and culture of the Mississippi prison system.  Hosted on Acast.
