Meath Councillor Welcomes Commitment from NTA to Conduct Feasibility Study on New Bettystown Train Station - 07/11/2025

from The Agenda

Fine Gael Councillor Sharon Tolan has today welcomed a formal commitment from the National Transport Authority (NTA) to initiate a feasibility study into the provision of a new train station for Bettystown. The announcement follows ongoing engagement and representations made by Cllr. Tolan on the urgent need to improve public transport infrastructure for the rapidly growing coastal town, and was secured at a meeting of Meath FG Cllrs with the NTA hosted by Minister Helen McEntee.Cllr. Tolan highlighted that Bettystown and its surrounding communities have seen significant population growth in recent years, with public transport services struggling to keep pace. A new train station would provide residents with improved connectivity to employment, education, healthcare, and services, while reducing congestion and reliance on private cars. Councillor Tolan joined us on The Agenda this morning to tell us more about this. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
