Meath County Council has adopted the budget for 2026, which provides for expenditure of over €258 million on local public services, an increase of over €26 million (or 11.5%) on the 2025 budget. Councillors voted to adopt the annual budget for 2026 at a meeting on Monday, 24 November, and it is the first time the Council’s budget has exceeded €250 million.Since 2019, the Annual Budget has increased by 108%, which has brought new services, enhanced service levels and provided additional human and financial resources in critical and emerging areas.Chief Executive of Meath County Council, Kieran Kehoe, joined us on The Agenda this morning to talk us through the Meath County Council Budget 2026.We also spoke to Social Democrats Councillor in Trim, Ronan Moore, who voted in favour of the 2025 Meath County Council Budget commending it for being ‘both prudent and ambitious, proactive and progressive’.
