Summary
Today's meditation comes right on the heels of Friday's text where we heard the story of the woman caught in adultery. Here, we actually pick up with a conversation Jesus was having in chapter 7 in the Temple. This disjointed transition from one story to the next is called a "seam," and happens when stories have been inserted later into already existent texts. It is for this reason that many scholars think that the story of the woman caught in adultery was, in fact, added later! Strange transitions aside, today's text gives us some interesting theology around the relationship between Jesus and God as well as a very familiar "I am" statement from Jesus himself. Join me as we meditate on and with scripture today! Thanks, as always, for listening!
