Hello Metal Heads, On this weeks’ show, were joined by American filmmaker Adam Dubin a NYU film program graduate and a life long metalhead. While at NYU, Adam and a young Rick Rubin shared a dorm room and a passion for music and the media arts. The two were involved in the development of the Beastie Boys and helped launch their career both musically and visually. Adam co-directed the Beastie Boys music videos "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)" and "No Sleep till Brooklyn" with Ric Menello. In 1990 Adam was commissioned by Metallica to shoot some recording studio footage which eventually led to Dubin directing the feature-length documentary "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica" as well as their music video "Nothing Else Matters "from 1991's Metallica: Metallica. This was the start of a 33 year relationship with Metallica that has included the 2013, Dubin directed documentary film Hit The Lights: The Making of Metallica Through the Never, starring Metallica and actor Dane DeHaan as well as the Freeze ‘Em All in Antarctica documentary In 2009, Dubin directed the concert film Stark Raving Black starring comedian Lewis Black. In 2012, he directed the concert film In God We Rust, also starring Black. 2019 saw the release of the documentary "Murder in the Front Row" which explores the early thrash scene of the San Francisco Bay Area.  Additional topics covered include :  -Vintage NYC record stores and eateries -His exposure to Electric Lady Studios - hearing Black Album tunes for the first time - going on tour with Metallica - directing the “Nothing Else Matters” video - the conception of Murder in the Front row - telling the story of early Bay Area thrash - the power of seeing KISS live - Kirk’s importance and Exodus - documenting Freeze ‘Em All in Antarctica Another example of a great, unique, conversation filled with in-depth antidotes and disclosures found only here at Metal Mayhem ROC.
