Send a textWhat does it take to finance and launch a new school? What are some of the challenges an entrepreneur faces with such a large undertaking? Even without the pressure of ensuring children attend the school and parents wanting to send their kids there, there are a lot of things that an educational visionary has to think about. Things such as financing the construction, marketing the school, building it in time and on budget and finding a site to build it.Miguel O'Farrell, lawyer of the largest law firm in Argentina and serial entrepreneur saw an opportunity to build a school, Cruz del Sur, in a poor suburb of Buenos Aires which mixed children from both a nearby shanty town with kids from more an affluent background in 2011. The results were incredible and this year, Cruz Del Sur will see its first generation of students graduate with 96% of them going on to study at university. In this episode of the Business Breakfast, I talk to Miguel about the beginnings of his project, the challenges he overcame and the rewards that he reaped from this incredible journey.
