from RNZ - All Programmes

A very special event took place in Levin over the weekend. After six decades, one of New Zealand's pioneering military nurses has finally been given the full recognition she earned. A restored headstone for Sister Ethel Maude Thomas was unveiled at Levin's Old Cemetery on Saturday, with previously omitted First World War honours now finally included. The work was led by the New Zealand Remembrance Army, alongside the Levin Returned Services Association and Horowhenua College.
