Welcome to Raw Impressions, Mondays Music Mini Episode. Whoa. I thought, I thought, is that raindrops? I thought those were tiny farts or something.
I think it was supposed to be applause. Is that your actual collapse? I don't know what that is. I could have done that myself.
I'm not sure. I saw applause as a little file for him. I'm like, hey, I'll add applause after that. I know it was like the tiniest applause.
This is the last episode, this mini episode of season one. Oh my gosh. It was like we've done one full season of Raw Impressions. Oh yeah.
And this is episode 52.5. I cannot believe that we have been doing Raw Impressions for a whole year of our life. That feels incredible to me. Adele's eyes are moist right now.
They are. I'm getting super emo over this. We've been talking about it for so many years and now we're already a year into it. Yeah, I'm feeling a little emotional.
I'm feeling incredibly grateful. Like, wow, we're doing it. We even have some people who listen, which is really nice. Thank you for listening.
I feel like, I mean, it's just a year. It is kind of incredible that we did do this for a year because I saw... So many reasons. Yeah.
I don't know. I don't know how... I don't know how in depth I want to go about this. But I put a lot of work into this.
You have put so much work into this. Maybe I should explain this to our audience. I've never put this kind of consistent work into anything in my life. My life is like segmented.
I'll work really hard at something for like a month and then I'll do nothing. I mean, maybe I'll go on tour. The way that my life, you know, the way I bounce between touring and working on music, it's never like... It's always like, wow, this is a big project coming up.
I'm going to work for a month, you know, and you work on a month. And then it's done. This has been like... It's like a consistent day job.
Well, yeah, I think about it all the time. I'm trying to devise new ways to make it interesting for myself and for our audience. And it's really kept my musical chops up. I'm really like, I sing a lot.
There used to be times I would go weeks without singing. Because what do you call it? It's like a calm part. Mentalized.
It's like, and you can talk to other musicians about this too. Like, well, geez, I haven't sang for three months. I got off that, you know, I was touring for six months and then I got off of that. And I just don't know how I'm really been playing and singing.
Which is totally cool. And how I've lived, you know, but this is like every week. I'm like trying to think of new stuff to do. Well, and not only are you thinking of new stuff, it's given you time and a reason to go back and explore a lot of old things too.
That were kind of like your beginning inspiration as a kid and finding music. Like getting really reconnected with your collages and tapes and things like that. Like you're really in a way kind of like going, coming like full circle in a way to like your beginnings. But it's really re-inspiring you and new, I think as an adult.
Like you're, it's adding to what you're doing now in a really interesting way and it's taking your music in new directions. I hope so. I feel like I've got really, it has gotten really into doing all these covers and stuff. And I feel like I have to, I'm feeling kind of like I need to shift into more original material.
I definitely feel like you're due for another solo album. I'm due to start writing some like just more like newer songs again and. Or yeah, or solo EP or just something or just singles. Yeah.
Yeah. We'll figure it out. Yeah. What's happening?
I don't know. I thought I had something lined up here. Oh, there it is. This song isn't good or anything.
Just so you know. I found it. No, it did. Yeah.
It was an folder. Okay. Okay. Then I just repeat that person.
I could have really used, could have gone somewhere with it. Waiting out. Mm-hmm. I was just noodling around.
He's playing. Sketching. It's in the garage in Glendale. We had a really cute rental house in Glendale on Geneva Street.
California. Yeah, Glendale, California. It's like, I guess it's technically a city. Oh, yeah.
It's a city. It's a city. But in the county of Los Angeles, it's like just north of Silver Lake and Atwater, the neighborhoods of the city of Los Angeles. Well, it's also confusing.
But so we lived in this really cute little turquoise colored rental house. One floor is one of those where you can walk through, it's a circle. It was a circle, right? I can walk a circle around the house.
Yeah, it was neat. And then we had a really nice clean garage. I liked that having a clean garage because it was obviously not really used for parking cars. I moved my laptop and my little interface.
The same one that I have now, by the way, a long time ago. Same stuff. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm. But that was a spot. But, to MooMoo, the other day, you said, you said to MooMoo. Because to MooMoo, like tomorrow, Gabuboo is good-bye.
Yeah. And this is kind of this lingo. What was it at the time? Because Hennelor, our oldest.
She would say just these hilarious sayings. She said something like, Gabuboo, see you at TumooMoo. So it was like, goodbye, see you tomorrow. Yeah.
And I had no idea where she came up with these things, but she had a lot of funny sayings. And another one, which was my favorite, it was, it was going to make me giggle. See if I can say, canik-seniwi do the math, which I don't even know exactly what that meant, but it was just sort of like, yeah, you figure it out. You'll figure it out.
It was like, canik-seniwi. Yeah, that was the word she made up to. Do the math. It was kind of like, listen, buddy, you figure it out.
Canik-seniwi do the math. Narn wars. Narn wars, canik-seniwi. That was another one.
Narn wars, canik-seniwi. Something. Something was like lame. And this.
Yeah, like, narn wars, canik-seniwi. And yeah, so children are great for just making up shit. To Moo Moo, kaboo-boo, because I think- No idea, you could ask her. Is that totally random?
Why, how the heck did you? Was this something you saw on Vine, like, who was speaking this language? That's right, because she was doing- She was like an early adopter? She was doing Vine, but she was like seven.
You guys remember Vine? It was like seven or eight second videos, and kind of like early before Tik-Tok, people were very creative, and they would basically do these like seven, eight second skits, and have whole characters and storylines, and, I mean, truly, it was another example of how so many people are wildly creative and talented, and they just need an outlet, right? A lot of the YouTube kids, you know, that started on Vine. Sure, they pretty started on Vine.
Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, that makes sense. A lot of pretty funny stuff. I bet.
Yeah, I mean, it's- I really like Vine. I was really just blown away by- Adam Goldberg, that actor. She had like a fascinating Vine. With his own music in it, a lot of which he had recorded onto RealTreal Tape, and these really dreamy shots from his phone, you know, presumably with beautiful and all these short little videos, and those were amazing.
I remember his as well, and he lived out very creative. And he lived like in the neighborhood, kind of. He lived in Silver Lake, I think. Yeah.
I think he did, because he's one of my neighborhood celeb sightings at Trader Joe's in Silver Lake, which is like classic- it's the most annoying Trader Joe's because the parking lot really sucks, and it's always wildly busy, and getting in and out of its, like, warfare. But I, yeah, I saw Adam Goldberg there one time shopping with his then-girlfriend, Christina Ricci. This was like a very long time ago, guys. I mean.
But yeah, I was like, huh, that's Christina Ricci, and that's Adam Goldberg, and they look like a couple, and they're shopping like a couple. I thought he was- Trader Joe's. Julie Delphi. Well, he might have been.
I'm just saying this was a long time ago. This is when I saw them at Trader Joe's. I also saw Gwen Stefani and Gavin Ross at Gelsons across the street. They're of course no longer married, but they were at the time.
I saw Liv Tyler. She touched his butt. Yeah, I thought it was kind of sweet. I was like, oh, she squeezed his butt while they were grocery shopping.
I saw Liv Tyler at Trader Joe's since my- Liv Tyler. Aha. What was she doing there? I don't know.
What was she doing there, Lou? I'm not even in the neighborhood. I have no idea. What was Liv Tyler doing at Trader Joe's?
The Silver Lake One or neighborhood one? Yes. Hmm. Interesting.
Yeah. I can't think of any other celebrities I saw. Those were here shorter long. Long?
I don't remember anything. Well, how'd you know it was her then? Because it was Liv Tyler. It was like when I went to Guido, I went to Wacko.
Where'd I go? Wacko. This is my biggest celebrity. Well, this is like a real Silver Lake name drop episode.
This is great. I didn't know that. Here we go. How did this happen?
I don't know. What else should we say? Okay. I've seen shop art gallery, amazing place.
It's been there for over Wacko. And I went there really early in the morning just before I was leaving the next day I was leaving to come back east. And I needed some presents. So I walked in and there were some guys like, you know, hooded guys or shady guys outside the door.
They weren't shady. They were they turned up. Anyway, they were bodyguards for their bodyguards for what's his face and what's her face? Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and their kids.
Sure. It was me shopping with them. I think she likes that store. I've seen like paparazzi pictures of her over the years going there with their kids and coming out with huge shopping bags.
I shopped with them. Didn't say how to him. I shopped with them. I shopped with them.
We were in proximity. They let you in the store at the same time, huh? They did. I guess I didn't seem like a threat.
Yeah, interesting. Okay. Okay. Well, on that note.
Music meeting Monday concludes. Thank you for listening.
