Minister confirms Sligo to be added to Defective Concrete Block scheme

The Housing Minister has confirmed he expects to include Sligo in the state's mica and pyrite redress scheme.Last month, Minister Darragh O'Brien indicated that the county would be high on the priority list.Hundreds of homes in Sligo are thought to be affected by the issue.Those in the likes of Donegal, Mayo, Limerick and Clare currently have access to the scheme and there have been ongoing calls for Sligo to be added as a matter of urgency.Speaking in the Dáil, Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin asked the Minister to provide certainty to the people of Sligo.In reply, Minister O'Brien says while he awaits the final submission from the local authority, he fully expects to give Sligo homeowners access to the scheme in the very near future.
