Moment of Meditation: God Remembered Noah (Genesis 8:1)
from Wrestling with Theology · host Rev. Doug Minton
Genesis 8:1 But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. God remembers His creation “for good” (Nehemiah 13:31). When God “remembers” someone, He has some blessing prepared for them. Ten generations after Noah, “God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow” of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:29). A couple generations later, “God remembered Rachel … and opened her womb” (Genesis 30:22). When God sent Moses to Egypt to deliver Israel, it was because “God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob” (Exodus 2:24). God remembered Hannah, and she conceived and bore Samuel (1 Samuel 1:19-20). When God remembers His people, the blessings flow freely. Amen.
