from The New Mexico Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, step outside right now and the Land of Enchantment feels like three different planets. Northern New Mexico? A sharp 17 degrees with north winds at 15 miles an hour. That's the kind of cold that makes your nostrils stick together. Drive south to the central valleys and you're at 24 degrees. Keep rolling into Southern New Mexico and it's a downright balmy 31 degrees. Here's the deal. Sunrise hit at 6:32 this morning, and we're gaining almost three minutes of daylight every day now. You can feel winter loosening its grip. Air quality sits at moderate today, so if your lungs are sensitive, you'll want to take it easy. Now here's what's coming your way this afternoon. Northern New Mexico barely cracks the low 20s. Bundle up like you mean it. Central New Mexico warms to the mid 30s by afternoon. Southern New Mexico pushes into the low 40s. Perfect Saturday stroll weather if you ask me. Tonight, clear skies and calm winds let the heat escape fast. Northern New Mexico drops to around 10 degrees. Your phone might quit before you do. Central New Mexico settles into the upper teens. Southern New Mexico lands in the mid 20s. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Sunshine dominates through early next week. Northern New Mexico stays stubborn, with highs barely touching freezing. Central and Southern New Mexico get a nice warm up though. Mid 40s by Tuesday. No storms lurking. Just clean, dry, classic winter weather. Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going. Stay safe out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
