from The New Mexico Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New Mexico Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd. Step outside right now and you'll feel 26 degrees. But here's the thing, folks — that chill won't last. We're about to flip the script on winter in a way that'll have you checking your calendar twice. Albuquerque starts at 25 degrees this morning, feeling more like 19. By 4 P.M.? You hit 59. That's a 34-degree swing in twelve hours. Winds shift from north to south around 1 P.M.. And suddenly it's like someone opened the oven door. Tonight drops to 30, but Monday climbs to 66 degrees. Head up to Santa Fe and you're looking at 24 this morning, feeling like 18. By 2 P.M., you reach 51. Still brisk, but that's a massive jump from this morning's freeze. Tonight cools to 26, then Monday rebounds to 59. Now down in Las Cruces, you're starting at 33, feeling like 27. By 2 P.M., you soar to 62 degrees. Winds gust to 22 miles an hour, adding a little drama. Tonight settles at 32, but Monday? Sixty-seven degrees. Nearly 70 in late February. For the week. Tuesday brings 74 in Albuquerque, 62 in Santa Fe, 78 in Las Cruces. Wednesday? Even warmer — 77, 65. And 81 degrees. That's 20 degrees above normal. But there's a catch: fire weather. Critical conditions develop midweek with winds gusting 45 miles an hour and humidity in single digits. If you're in the northeast plains, stay alert. One quick thing. If this forecast helps you plan your Sunday, share it with a friend who could use the heads up. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
