Good morning. New Mexico. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel it. That crisp 38-degree morning air under a crystal-clear sky. But don't let that chill fool you. Today is going to be absolutely gorgeous. In the next 24 hours. We're looking at sunny skies statewide with temperatures running 27 degrees to 27 degrees above normal for early March. Southern New Mexico leads the warmth with a high of 78 degrees. Central areas climb to 71. Northern New Mexico tops out at 63 degrees with a bit more breeze. Light winds today. Just 5 to 10 miles an hour. Perfect weather for getting outside. Sunrise was at 6:33 this morning. Sunset comes at 6:05 this evening. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Tonight stays mild with partly cloudy skies. Lows dip to 35 in the north, 38 central. And 45 down south. And look up after dark. Tonight's full moon should be spectacular. But enjoy today's calm. Thursday tells a different story. Southwest winds crank up to 20 miles an hour with gusts pushing 35 to 45. Patchy blowing dust develops between 11 A.M. and 5 P.M. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for eastern New Mexico. Humidity drops into the single digits. Any fire that starts will spread rapidly. Friday brings a sharp cool-down. Highs tumble to 48 in the north, 58 central, 68 south. Still breezy with gusts to 35 miles an hour. Then the weekend looks more seasonable with highs in the 60s. Rain chances return Monday.
