from Rise Empower Dream

In this episode, I share a deeply personal chapter of my life, taking you back to Lagos, Nigeria, where I lived with my family from 1981 to 1985. These years were marked by both cultural richness and profound challenges. In 1985, my father was arrested for political reasons, a devastating event that shook our family to its core. My mother struggled with the immense pressure, turning to alcohol as a coping mechanism. My father’s absence spanned 18 long months, during which he miraculously escaped Africa under clandestine circumstances. Only a few knew of his escape plan: a trusted helper, my mother, and one of his brothers. Join me as I recount this pivotal period, exploring the repercussions of these turbulent times.
