North Dakota Weather: 02-20-2026

from The North Dakota Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the North Dakota Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 23rd. Folks, winter just looked at the thermostat and said, "Hold my coffee." North Dakota is locked in a deep freeze this morning, and the cold isn't going anywhere. Here's the deal though. It's a dry cold. Barely a flake in the forecast. Just pure, bone deep chill under sunny skies. Step outside in eastern North Dakota and you're feeling 14 degrees. Northwest winds at 13 miles an hour make it bite harder than the number suggests. Sunshine all day, but don't let that fool you. Highs barely budge. Tonight you drop back into single digits. Head west into central North Dakota. You're sitting at 13 degrees with lighter winds near 9 miles an hour. Same story. Sunny, stubborn, cold. Lows tonight fall to about 5 degrees. Tomorrow? Mid teens. The thermometer is basically frozen in place. Now drive north. Seven degrees. That's it. Winds are light at 8 miles an hour, but at 7 degrees, even a whisper of wind finds every gap in your jacket. Tonight you'll want to bundle everything you own. Lows drop near zero or just below. Tomorrow's highs struggle into the low teens. This is the kind of cold where your phone dies at half battery. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. We're camped in this icebox through the weekend. Sunday morning could bring 5 to 10 below zero for many spots. No storms though. Skies stay clear and winds stay manageable. Just a quiet, frozen landscape stretching into next week. One bright spot. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight every single day. Sunrise today at 6:33 A.M., sunset at 5:18 P.M. Winter's still in charge, but the light is fighting back. Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Friday, share it with a neighbor who could use the heads up. Stay safe out there, folks. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
