from The North Dakota Weather Podcast
Good morning, folks! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the North Dakota Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th, and winter isn't messing around. Step outside right now and you'll feel minus 8 up north. That's before the wind. A steady 14 miles an hour out of the west makes it feel like your face owes winter money. Central North Dakota sits at minus 4 with a 9 miles an hour northwest wind slicing through every layer you own. Even eastern North Dakota, usually the mild kid in the family, is parked at zero with a light breeze. Here's the deal. Highs today barely budge. We're talking a degree or two above where you woke up. Your car battery is earning its keep this morning. Tonight the cold digs deeper. Northern and central regions drop into the minus teens. Eastern North Dakota settles around 5 to 10 below zero. Winds ease off, so wind chill won't be the villain. The thermometer handles that job solo. Frostbite doesn't need an invitation at these temps. Cover every inch of skin if you're heading out. One bright spot. We gained 2 minutes and 52 seconds of daylight today. Sunrise hit at 6:32 A.M., sunset at 5:20 P.M. The sun is trying, folks. Give it credit. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Sunday brings a tiny rebound into the single digits. Don't throw a party. Monday and Tuesday? Below zero highs. Overnight lows crater into the minus teens and minus 20s. No storms brewing, just relentless, bone deep cold through midweek. Classic February in North Dakota. Double check your block heaters and keep extra blankets in the truck. Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there!
